These hidden gems we call The Out Islands come in the form of small remote villages and a simple way of life. Here you’ll find some of the world’s most stunning beaches, dive sites, and fishing sites – a welcome surprise if you’re looking for that perfect mix of relaxation and adventure.
The Calamianes group of islands, located at the northernmost tip of Palawan, is comprised of four municipalities : Busuanga, Coron, Culion, and Linapacan. The Calamianes has the highest concentration of islands in the Philippine archipelago, yet remains the most thinly populated. Tourism activities in the Calamianes are mostly concentrated on the western side of Busuanga Island. There are 2 towns on Busuanga Island: the Municipality of Busuanga in Salvacion and the Municipality of Coron to which Coron Island belongs.
The busier tourism center is Coron town, with its many lodging houses in town and on the shore of Coron Bay. Coron town and nearby island resorts are popular jumping-off points to see the 12 World War II shipwrecks that promise every diver a thrill and a chill. Few other spots in the world offer such a concentration of historic wrecks in such a small, easily accessible area.
